Relating Your Plan to the Campus Plan

Table of Contents

What can we do to align our plan with the campus plan?

  1. As you review your department or unit mission and goals, do so in relation to the campus strategic plan. Identify those activities and goals that are in alignment with the campus priorities. Note that the campus strategic plan may be viewed on the chancellor's web site http://www.chancellor.wisc.edu/strategicplan/. Each priority is supported with specific goals and sample priority activities which are shown at http://www.chancellor.wisc.edu/strategicplan/promote.html.

  2. Contact the Campus Priority Point People to learn more about specific areas in which you may want to do more or engage with others on campus.

  3. Consider whether internal or external partnerships might advance your goals.

  4. If your department or unit has actions that relate to the five priorities in the campus strategic plan, it might make sense to organize your plan in the framework of the five priorities. If there is not so direct a correlation, you might choose from a number of forms or develop your own. In What Ways Will We or Do We Contribute to the Campus Priorities? is a matrix for helping identify where your goals align with the campus priorities.

The Office of Quality Improvement maintains copies of all school and college strategic plans as well as sample plans from departments and units. Contact OQI for information.
